In the meantime, here’s another tip that makes everyone say, “Now, why didn’t I think of that?” Print out some custom business cards for your studio to give to each client featuring their image. They’ll be sure to hand them out and talk you up…word-of-mouth advertising that’s priceless!

Wedding & Portrait Photographers International

The WPPI Expo was a resounding success…one of those rare occasions in Las Vegas where everyone wins! A very special moment for me was this evidence of WPPI’s symbiotic effect: I visited the Hahnemuhle booth to introduce myself to Jim Christenson and to thank him for providing me with some samples of their gorgeous papers. As soon as I told him my name, Jim said, “Oh, we were just talking about you! Someone just left who said they’d heard about us in your seminar.” This is what WPPI is all about…thanks to the very hard work of its President, Skip Cohen, who loves to say, “WPPI is the most fun I don't want to have for another year.”

So thanks to all of you who attended…it was so gratifying to meet you personally. To Dove Thiselton who wrote such a sweet note saying the seminar made her trip! And to Tanii and Charley Carr…whose ranch just may become the location for a future workshop! And a very special thanks to Stacie and Andre at Tamron, Castine at Tamrac, and Dano at Epson. And finally, thanks to Alex Sandlin, for her warm friendship, generous hospitality, and good-natured assistance.

Diversity reigns supreme! Add some fun to your summer by attending one (or all!) of my workshops. Each session is $95 per person plus $35 materials fee, starts at 10 a.m., and ends somewhere around 4 p.m. A light lunch is provided, but feel free to bring a snack.

Workshops are limited to 8 participants, so sign up early. My studio is located in the Fairfax district of Los Angeles near The Grove.

And now... The Auratone

Be one of the first to be trained in this exciting new technique. Combining digital printing and gold leaf, you’ll learn how to create unique pieces of fine art worthy of a gallery show. Similar to Edward S. Curtis’ Orotones which were produced in the darkroom, Barbara has developed a process that allows you to work in the comfort of the studio under ordinary lighting conditions.
